An opportunity has arisen to propose research project ideas!

Posted: 4 January, 2019. Written by Justyna

An opportunity has arisen for individuals/organisations to propose research project ideas for projects that the REAL Compost and Biofertiliser Certification Schemes' Research Hub could fund or support.

The Research Hub is a tool to source funding from the compost and AD industries in order to develop the technical and regulatory aspects of certified compost and digestate production, testing and usage.

The opportunity to contribute to the work of the Hub and decide which projects to prioritise is now available. The proposed method for identifying research projects and the associated timescale is as follows:

  1. Submission of research project proposals or ideas - please contact us and propose research projects now and until 10th February 2019
  2. The inaugural meeting of the Research Panel, on a date to be determined in February, will consider the projects proposed by scheme participants and by the CCS Technical Advisory Committee.
  3. The Research Panel will draw up a list of realistic projects, and these will be presented to all scheme participants in a Survey Monkey, inviting them to rank the projects and to propose other projects. The survey will last for four weeks so that the results will be available in early April.
  4. REAL will analyse the results of the survey in preparation for a meeting of the Research Panel in June, at which research projects will be prioritised.
  5. The tender process is likely to take place during July and August with the contractors for the first projects appointed in September next year.
