REAL CCS reappoints three laboratories in 2019

Posted: 4 January, 2019. Written by Georgia

Three laboratories have been reappointed this year to undertake PAS 100 testing of compost for the Compost Certification Scheme (CCS). Compost producers will now have a choice of three laboratories to test their compost for certification purposes. The list of CCS Approved Laboratories can be found here.

Last year, all four laboratories appointed under the CCS were inspected during the independent laboratory audits. A laboratory's appointment is dependent on compliance with all the Laboratory Terms & Conditions (T&Cs), against which they are audited. If the audit is successful, their appointment is renewed for a year.

Three laboratories completed the audit round successfully, demonstrating compliance with the Laboratory T&Cs, and have been reappointed as 'Approved Laboratories' under the new Scheme Rules. The full list of contact and address details for the CCS Approved Laboratories can be found on our website here.

One laboratory could not comply with all the requirements of the Laboratory T&Cs and therefore is no longer approved to carry out PAS 100 testing under the Compost Certification Scheme. Certified compost producers have a transition period in which to cease sending compost to Eurofins Agro Testing UK Limited but all compost producers going forward can only send compost samples to one of the three Approved Laboratories.
