REAL's compost certification mark is only allowed to be used by compost producers who hold a valid certificate under REAL's Compost Certification Scheme.
The first version, shown underneath this paragraph, is awarded to compost producers who achieve certification to PAS 100 and REAL's Compost Certification Scheme Rules. Only producers of 'non-waste' compost are permitted to join the Compost Certification Scheme in this certification category.
The second version, shown in the middle, is awarded to compost producers who achieve certification to PAS 100, the Compost Quality Protocol, and REAL's Compost Certification Scheme Rules. Compost grades that carry this version of the certification mark can be supplied, stored and used as ‘products’ (without waste regulatory controls) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The third version, shown on the right hand side, is awarded to compost producers who achieve certification to PAS 100, SEPA's Regulatory Position Statement for Compost, and REAL's Compost Certification Scheme Rules. Compost grades that carry this version of the certification mark can be supplied, stored and used as 'products' (without waste regulatory controls) in Scotland.
The instructions for the use of the certification mark can be found HERE.
If you need an electronic version of the certification mark, please send a request to info@realschemes.org.uk.
